It could happen.
With all the crazy stuff happening in politics I am wondering if there can be another Harry Truman.
Truman became a judge and then a senator, and then vice president and president of the united states, all without a college degree.
There are a few others (Washington, Jackson, Van Buren, Taylor, Fillmore) but Truman is the most modern president to be a grass roots kind of fellow.
Came up from nothing special to the highest position an american can hold. That's pretty impressive. I want a presidential candidate like Truman.
An "Everyman" kind of guy.
What I am looking at now is nothing short of empire building. Long term senators and congressman, then handing down the reigns to their sons and daughters is really making the future of democracy bleak from my point of view.
I don't count Clinton as a Joe Average kind of president. He was pretty much a dirtball.
But then again, all the morals and honesty that W, spouts off about constantly seem to be flying out the window in the face of "Turd Blossom"'s involvement in the Valerie Plame/Wilson debacle. Yeah it is obvious Rove and Libby gave out the info, and that info most probably came from an aid or memo from Condolezza Rice. OK Everyone knows it, it is obvious, FIRE THEM!
That's what you said you would do and you damn well should do it. You got caught with your hand in the dirty tricks jar and you were smart enough to keep direct involvement untrackable. Fine, but you better well get rid of the underling you had do it.
Besides, Rove already lied to the FBI at the beginning of the investigation so you know he did something illegal. He's busted. Oot!
And didn't Bush senior, (a good actual president by the way) Fire Rove from his campaign after it was found out that Rove was leaking information to Novak about campaign strategies in order to get the Clinton Camp to ramp up to something that noone cared about?
Oh yeah, he did.
So either W is just hell bent on doing everything opposite his father did, caring about americans as a whole, not just based on party affiliation, stopping short of bahgdad because they were defeated and more lives would be lost without good reason, and firing Rove for leaking information, or he is just top to bottom completely full of his own crap.
Bush senior was a good president.
Bush junior is making me regret having voted for him.
I'm getting upset with the whole republican party actually. It is so focused ONLY on two things.
#1- Whatever agenda hard right fanatical christian lobby groups say.
#2- Big money for Big companies.
Thats it.
W himself seems to be taking on the personal crusade of re-writing the bill of rights most probably down to the pre-amble.
I'm actually starting to worry he or one of his pass throughs, is going to try to repeal to the two term limit on presidency.
He'll sight the same reasons FDR did when he broke the unwritten rule of term limits that prompted the actual written term limits, and try to play it off like he is the only thing seperating America from all out terrorist driven anarchy.
If that actually happens.
I will take out my guns and make sure they are clean and prepared for whatever comes down the pipe.
Seriously.
Kevin,
How goes it in Florida? This is Chris, with the Sci-Fi Guys. I am the creator of the show, as well as the executive producer and the director. You have somehow noticed our little website, and have left us many posts which makes me very happy deep down in my warm squishy places. I do not normally check the site for posts on the grounds that I am lazy and uncaring, but I was poking about on there today and, lo, I came upon your posts. THANK YOU FOR POSTING!! I feel like we have a fan, and near an ocean, no less. That's top shelf, my friend; ALL the fly sci-fi honies are gonna be beating down our doors now. One at a time, ladies, there's plenty to go around.
In any case, I'm truly sorry to hear that its so hard on you to get your own cable show, but DO NOT GIVE UP. Yes, it can be a pain, and yes, it will be tiresome at times, but it is totally worth it. I hope that you can get your own show rolling, but if you can't, then send us here at the Sci-Fi Guys a 28 minute episode, and we'll put it on the air. It may not be local exposure, but I truly believe that a broadcast anywhere is loads better than a broadcast nowhere. Good luck, and let us know if you need any help.
Rock out with your Spock out,
Chris
You voted for Bush? I'm sorry, Kevin. I don't think I can be your friend anymore.
LOL!
Yet another great example of what polarizing politics does to a society.
